Question 1

Which is the best engine for a used Audi A1?

Accepted Answer

On the second generation, the three-cylinder 1.0 TFSI of the 25 and 30 TFSI is enough in town and cheap to run, while the 1.5 of the 35 TFSI suits motorway driving. On the first generation, the later 1.4 and 1.0 TFSI are preferable to the early 1.2 TFSI, whose timing chain can stretch.

Question 2

What are the common problems of the Audi A1?

Accepted Answer

On automatics, the seven-speed dry-clutch S tronic can judder when pulling away if it has been neglected, so test it from cold. The first-generation 1.6 TDI, like other diesels used only in town, can clog its particulate filter.

Question 3

What is the difference between the first and second generation Audi A1?

Accepted Answer

The second generation, from 2018, is longer and roomier, five-door only, petrol only and has a more modern cabin. The first, built until 2018, also came as a three-door and with TDI diesel engines.

Question 4

How much does a new Audi A1 cost?

Accepted Answer

The new A1 is sold as the Sportback and the allstreet with 116 and 150 hp TFSI petrol engines, plus the 207 hp 40 TFSI on the Sportback, in Business, Identity and S line Edition trims. Each version is at Audi's list price beside the used cars.
