Question 1

Is the Audi A3 1.6 TDI a good used buy?

Accepted Answer

It suits drivers who put low running costs before performance: it is frugal and generally sound. On the second generation it is the Euro 5 EA189 engine recalled for the emissions software update, so ask whether that was done.

Question 2

What should I check on a used Audi A3 2.0 TDI?

Accepted Answer

Check the particulate filter and EGR valve, which clog on cars driven only in town, and on Euro 6 cars the AdBlue system. On S tronic versions, also ask whether the gearbox oil was changed on time.

Question 3

Can an Audi A3 diesel drive in Milan's Area B?

Accepted Answer

That depends on its Euro class, shown on the Documento Unico: the oldest diesel classes are already excluded and the calendar keeps widening. A fourth-generation A3 TDI faces the fewest limits, but check the city's current rules before buying.

Question 4

What engines does the new Audi A3 diesel have?

Accepted Answer

The new A3 diesel has the 2.0 TDI, at 116 hp with a manual gearbox or 150 hp with S tronic. The Sportback and Sedan come in Business, Business Advanced and S line trims, and the raised allstreet only with the 150 hp.
