Question 1

Should I buy an Audi A5 2.0 TDI or 3.0 TDI?

Accepted Answer

The 2.0 TDI is enough for most drivers and costs less to run and to tax. The 3.0 TDI V6 is smoother and stronger for motorway work and towing, but its servicing costs more.

Question 2

Does the Audi A5 3.0 TDI pay the superbollo?

Accepted Answer

Only the versions above 185 kW, such as the second-generation 3.0 TDI with 286 hp, which pays €20 for each kW over the threshold every year. The charge falls after five, ten and fifteen years from construction and ends at twenty.

Question 3

Was the Audi A5 2.0 TDI affected by dieselgate?

Accepted Answer

First-generation Euro 5 2.0 TDIs, the EA189 engine, were recalled for a software update. Ask an Audi dealer to confirm that the update was done on the car you are buying.

Question 4

What goes wrong on a used Audi A5 TDI?

Accepted Answer

A diesel A5 used only on short urban trips tends to clog its particulate filter and EGR valve. On recent Euro 6 cars, also ask about the AdBlue system, whose faults can stop the engine starting.

Question 5

Which diesel engine does the new Audi A5 have?

Accepted Answer

Only the 2.0 TDI with 204 hp and the seven-speed S tronic, with front-wheel drive or quattro, as a fastback or an Avant. It comes in Business, Business Advanced and S line trims.
