Question 1

What goes wrong on the Citroën 1.6 THP engine?

Accepted Answer

The 1.6 THP, built with BMW and also used by Mini, can stretch its timing chain and burn oil. A rattle on a cold start is the warning sign, so ask for the chain's service record.

Question 2

Is the turbocharged 1.2 PureTech better than the non-turbo one?

Accepted Answer

The turbo versions, with 110 or 130 hp, suit motorway driving, while the 68 and 82 hp non-turbo ones are simpler and enough in town. Both share the timing belt running in oil, so ask when it was last changed.

Question 3

Is a used petrol Citroën better than a diesel in Italy?

Accepted Answer

For town use and modest mileage, usually yes: no particulate filter to clog and fewer restrictions in low-emission zones such as Milan's Area B than a diesel of the same age. The bollo is charged on kW and Euro class at the rate of your region.

Question 4

Which new petrol Citroën models are sold in Italy?

Accepted Answer

The C3 and C3 Aircross with the 100 hp Turbo and a manual gearbox, and the C3, C3 Aircross, C4 and C5 Aircross as Hybrids, with the 1.2 and the e-DCS6 automatic in 110 or 145 hp.
