Question 1

Is the Dacia 1.5 dCi diesel engine reliable?

Accepted Answer

Yes, when oil changes are done on time: it is one of Renault's most widespread diesels, with cheap parts. Early versions are known for crankshaft bearing wear when servicing was stretched, so ask for the service record.

Question 2

What should I check on a diesel Dacia with AdBlue?

Accepted Answer

The Blue dCi uses AdBlue in an SCR system, so ask whether the tank, pump or sensor has been replaced. A lit AdBlue warning can stop the engine starting until the fault is fixed.

Question 3

Can a diesel Dacia enter Milan's Area B?

Accepted Answer

Older Euro classes of diesel are already banned from Area B and Area C, on a calendar that widens to newer ones. Check the Euro class on the Documento Unico and the city's current rules before buying.

Question 4

Is a used Dacia Duster dCi 4x4 good for the mountains?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it pairs four-wheel drive with a torquey diesel, a common choice in Alpine and Apennine valleys. Listen for noise from the rear axle, and check the particulate filter on a car used mostly for short trips.
