Question 1

Which Fiat 500X diesel should I choose, the 1.3, 1.6 or 2.0 Multijet?

Accepted Answer

The 1.6 Multijet is the all-rounder, with enough pull for the motorway and moderate running costs. The 1.3 suits mostly town use, while the 2.0 makes sense if you want four-wheel drive.

Question 2

What problems does the Fiat 500X 1.6 Multijet have?

Accepted Answer

On cars driven mostly in town, the particulate filter and EGR valve can clog. Check that the timing belt was changed on schedule and, on dual-clutch cars, that the gearbox shifts smoothly from cold.

Question 3

Can a used Fiat 500X diesel enter low-emission zones in Italy?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the city and the car's Euro class: Milan's Area B and similar zones bar older diesels step by step. Check the Euro class on the Documento Unico against the rules where you live.

Question 4

Does a Fiat 500X diesel pay more bollo than a petrol?

Accepted Answer

No, the bollo depends on the car's kW and Euro class, not its fuel, at the rate of the owner's region. A diesel pays the same per kW as a petrol of the same Euro class.
