Question 1

Which is the best Fiat Punto to buy used?

Accepted Answer

A 2012 to 2018 Punto is the newest and safest, often with the 1.2 Fire, the 1.4 Fire on factory LPG or methane, or the 1.3 Multijet. A second-generation Punto costs little but is older in safety and comfort.

Question 2

What are the common problems of the Fiat Punto?

Accepted Answer

On the Grande Punto, Evo and later Punto, test the electric power steering, a known weak point. On the 1.3 Multijet, ask about the EGR valve and the particulate filter, and on Dualogic cars check that the robotised gearbox shifts smoothly.

Question 3

What is the difference between the Grande Punto, Punto Evo and Punto?

Accepted Answer

They are one model updated over time: the Grande Punto of 2005, the Punto Evo of 2009 with a restyled front and new engines such as the 1.4 MultiAir, and the Punto of 2012, simplified again, with the 0.9 TwinAir.

Question 4

Is the Fiat Punto still made?

Accepted Answer

No, production ended in 2018 with no direct successor, so every Punto on sale is used. Parts remain easy to find in Italy, and most garages know the car well.
