Question 1

Is the Fiat Punto a saloon or a hatchback?

Accepted Answer

It is a hatchback, which Italian adverts call a berlina, the word for an ordinary car body. Fiat never built a four-door Punto; its saloon relative was the Linea, a separate model.

Question 2

Should I buy a three-door or a five-door Fiat Punto?

Accepted Answer

The five-door is more common and far easier with rear passengers and child seats. The three-door has longer doors and was the base for the sporty Abarth versions.

Question 3

What is the difference between the Grande Punto, Punto Evo and 2012 Punto?

Accepted Answer

They are one generation updated twice. The Punto Evo of 2009 brought a new front, a revised cabin and the MultiAir petrol engines, and the 2012 Punto dropped the Evo name and added the 0.9 TwinAir.

Question 4

How much bollo does a used Fiat Punto pay?

Accepted Answer

The bollo is set by the engine's kW and Euro class, at the rate of the owner's region. Every Punto stays well under 100 kW, so only the lower rate per kW applies, while an older Euro class raises it.
