Question 1

Can a Fiat Panda Hybrid drive on electricity alone?

Accepted Answer

No, the Panda Hybrid is a 12-volt mild hybrid: its belt-driven starter-generator helps the 1.0 petrol engine and recovers energy when slowing, but never drives the wheels on its own. That keeps it simple, with a conventional six-speed manual gearbox.

Question 2

Which Fiat hybrids have an automatic gearbox?

Accepted Answer

The 48-volt hybrids: the Tipo and 500X with the 1.5 hybrid engine, and the 600 and Grande Panda with the 1.2 turbo, all use a dual-clutch automatic. The Panda and 500 Hybrid are manual only.

Question 3

Do hybrid Fiats pay less bollo in Italy?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the region: many charge hybrids one flat rate per kW whatever their Euro class, and a few, Puglia among them, exempt new hybrids for some years. As most Fiat hybrids stay under 100 kW, the saving on a used one is often small.

Question 4

Is the Fiat Pandina a hybrid?

Accepted Answer

Yes: from 2024 the third-generation Panda Hybrid is sold as the Pandina, with the same 1.0 mild-hybrid engine and more standard safety equipment. It is a different car from the larger Grande Panda.
