Question 1

Can an older diesel Fiat Panda enter Milan's Area B?

Accepted Answer

Older diesel Pandas, such as those with the 1.3 MultiJet, fall into the Euro classes that Area B is progressively excluding. Check the Euro class on the Documento Unico against the city's current calendar before you buy.

Question 2

Do hybrid Fiats pay a lower bollo in Lombardy?

Accepted Answer

Lombardy charges hybrids a flat €2.58 per kW whatever their Euro class, and electric cars nothing at all, for good. Paying by bank direct debit takes a further 15% off.

Question 3

Is the Fiat 500e a good used car for Milan?

Accepted Answer

For city driving it is: it is short to park, it is not held back by the diesel limits of Area B, and Lombardy exempts it from the bollo for good. Before buying, work out where you will charge it, since many Milan flats have no private garage.

Question 4

How much IPT do you pay on a used Fiat in Milan?

Accepted Answer

The province of Milan adds 30% to the national tariff, so a Fiat of up to 53 kW pays about €196 and a more powerful one about €4.56 per kW. About €101 of fees come on top.
