Question 1

Which used Ford Kuga automatic is best?

Accepted Answer

On the third generation, the hybrids' continuously variable transmission has no clutch to wear and suits town traffic, while the eight-speed automatic suits the petrol and diesel versions. On an older Kuga, test the Powershift dual-clutch carefully.

Question 2

What problems does the Ford Kuga Powershift gearbox have?

Accepted Answer

Judder when pulling away, jerky low-speed shifts or warning messages can point to clutch or control-unit wear. Ask for the gearbox's service history, including any fluid changes, and test it in slow traffic.

Question 3

Does an automatic Ford Kuga Hybrid pay less bollo?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the owner's region: in many, a hybrid pays one flat rate per kW whatever its Euro class, and some exempt new hybrids for a few years. The gearbox itself changes neither the bollo nor the IPT.

Question 4

How much does a new automatic Ford Kuga cost?

Accepted Answer

The new automatic Kuga comes as the 1.5 EcoBoost of 186 cv with an eight-speed gearbox or as the 2.5 Plug-In Hybrid of 243 cv, front-wheel drive, in trims from ST-Line to Active X and BlueCruise Edition, each at Ford's list price.
