Question 1

What problems does the Ford Kuga 2.0 TDCi have?

Accepted Answer

Mostly those of a modern diesel used in town: a clogged particulate filter and a sticking EGR valve. On high-mileage manuals, also listen for a worn dual-mass flywheel, which shows as vibration at idle and when pulling away.

Question 2

Which Ford Kuga diesel has four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

Four-wheel drive came on the more powerful 2.0 diesels; on the third generation, only the 190 hp 2.0 EcoBlue with the automatic has it. The 1.5 diesels are front-wheel drive only.

Question 3

Is the automatic Ford Kuga diesel reliable?

Accepted Answer

Second-generation diesel automatics use the Powershift dual-clutch, which needs its oil changed on schedule, so test it cold for jerks while manoeuvring. Third-generation diesels use a conventional eight-speed automatic instead.

Question 4

Can a used Ford Kuga diesel enter Milan's Area B?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the Euro class shown on the Documento Unico, as Area B excludes older diesel classes on a calendar that widens over the years. A third-generation Kuga diesel meets Euro 6d-TEMP or 6d, but check the city's current rules.
