Question 1

Which engine is best on a used Ford Ranger?

Accepted Answer

For towing and heavy loads the five-cylinder 3.2 TDCi and the 2.0 EcoBlue bi-turbo are the strongest of the T6 years. The 2.2 TDCi is enough for lighter work and is cheaper to run, while the current generation's 3.0 V6 diesel is the smoothest.

Question 2

Is a used Ford Ranger registered as a car or a commercial vehicle in Italy?

Accepted Answer

Many Rangers are registered as an autocarro, a light commercial vehicle, rather than as a car. Check the category on the Documento Unico, because it changes how the pick-up is taxed and insured.

Question 3

What should you check on a used Ford Ranger 4x4?

Accepted Answer

Engage four-wheel drive and low range on the test drive and listen for noise from the transfer box and axles. Look under the chassis and the load bed for damage or rust from off-road use, and check the tow bar if one is fitted.

Question 4

What is the difference between the Ford Ranger Wildtrak and the Raptor?

Accepted Answer

The Wildtrak is the well-equipped version of the normal Ranger, with the same chassis and diesel engines. The Raptor has its own long-travel off-road suspension and wider track, and in the current generation a petrol V6.
