Question 1

What should I check on a used Ford Mustang Mach-E?

Accepted Answer

Ask for a battery health report and check that software updates and recalls have been carried out, among them the fix for high-voltage contactors that could overheat on early cars. The extended-range battery gives the longer range.

Question 2

Which used electric Fords have all-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

The Mustang Mach-E in its AWD and GT versions and the dual-motor Explorer and Capri have all-wheel drive, while their single-motor versions drive the rear wheels. The Puma Gen-E is front-wheel drive.

Question 3

Do used electric Fords pay the bollo in Italy?

Accepted Answer

By national law an electric car is exempt for five years from first registration, then pays a quarter of the rate. Lombardy and Piedmont exempt it for good, so a used Mach-E registered there may pay nothing at all.

Question 4

Should I buy a new or a used electric Ford?

Accepted Answer

New, Ford sells the Explorer and Capri from 190 hp with rear-wheel drive to 340 hp with all-wheel drive, the Mustang Mach-E up to the 487 hp GT, the 168 hp Puma Gen-E and the 136 hp E-Tourneo Courier. A used one costs less, but check its battery's health.
