Question 1

Is the Ford Puma hybrid a full hybrid?

Accepted Answer

No, the Puma EcoBoost Hybrid is a 48-volt mild hybrid: a belt-driven starter-generator assists the 1.0 turbo petrol engine but cannot move the car on its own. It saves fuel in town and never needs charging.

Question 2

What should I check on a used Ford Kuga Plug-In Hybrid?

Accepted Answer

Check the electric range on a full charge and ask how the car was charged, as the range falls when the battery ages. Early 2020 Kuga plug-ins were recalled over a battery overheating risk, so confirm the recall work was done.

Question 3

Do Ford hybrids pay less bollo in Italy?

Accepted Answer

In most regions a hybrid pays one flat rate per kW, whatever its Euro class, with no higher rate above 100 kW. Veneto exempts hybrids for three tax years, while Lazio gives no exemption to those registered from 2023.

Question 4

Should I buy a new or a used Ford hybrid?

Accepted Answer

New Ford hybrids are plug-ins: the Kuga, pairing a 2.5 petrol engine with an electric motor for 243 hp, and the Tourneo Connect and Grand Tourneo Connect with a 1.5 for 150 hp, all automatic. A used Kuga costs less, but its battery has aged.
