Question 1

What is the difference between a Ford Transit and a Tourneo?

Accepted Answer

The Transit is the van, with a load area behind the front seats, and the Tourneo is the passenger version of the same vehicle, with rear seats and side windows. A Tourneo is usually registered as a car, a Transit van as a goods vehicle.

Question 2

Which engines do used Ford Transit vans have?

Accepted Answer

Most used Transits and Transit Customs are diesels: the 2.2 TDCi until 2016, then the 2.0 EcoBlue. The Transit Custom has also been sold as a plug-in hybrid with a 1.0 EcoBoost range extender, and the latest generation as the electric E-Transit Custom.

Question 3

Which Ford Transit Connect generation should I buy used?

Accepted Answer

The Connect built by Ford from 2013 uses Ford's own EcoBoost petrol and TDCi or EcoBlue diesel engines. The generation sold since 2022 is built with Volkswagen on the Caddy, with Volkswagen engines and, later, a plug-in hybrid.

Question 4

Should I buy a new or a used Ford Tourneo Connect?

Accepted Answer

New, the Tourneo Connect comes with a diesel, a 1.5 petrol or a 150 hp plug-in hybrid, manual or automatic, and the smaller Tourneo Courier with a 1.0 EcoBoost petrol or as the 136 hp electric E-Tourneo Courier. A used one costs less and is easier to find as a diesel.
