Question 1

Is the Hyundai DCT gearbox reliable?

Accepted Answer

The seven-speed DCT fitted to the 1.0 and 1.6 T-GDi engines is generally sound, but its dry clutches dislike constant crawling in traffic. On a test drive, check for judder or hesitation when pulling away.

Question 2

Which used automatic Hyundai suits city driving in Italy?

Accepted Answer

A hybrid or electric Hyundai copes best with stop-start traffic, since the electric motor does the work at low speed. An electric car is also exempt from the bollo for its first five years, and for good in Lombardy and Piedmont.

Question 3

Does the Hyundai warranty pass to the next owner of a used car?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Hyundai's five-year, unlimited-mileage factory warranty stays with the car when it is sold, provided it has been serviced on schedule. The service booklet shows how much of it remains.

Question 4

Which new Hyundai cars come with an automatic gearbox?

Accepted Answer

Hyundai sells automatic versions of the i20, i30, Bayon, Kona, Tucson and Santa Fe with petrol, diesel or hybrid power, the Staria people carrier, and the electric Inster and Ioniq range, each at its list price.
