Which Jaguar diesel engine is best?

For most drivers the 2.0 Ingenium with 180 or 200 hp gives the best balance of economy and pace. The 3.0 V6 is smoother and stronger, but costs more to keep and pays the superbollo in its 300 hp form.

Are Jaguar Ingenium diesels reliable?

Later ones are sound, but some early 2.0 Ingenium diesels suffered timing chain wear, often linked to long oil-change intervals. Ask for the service record and listen for a rattle on a cold start.

Can a diesel Jaguar enter Milan's Area B?

It depends on the Euro class on the Documento Unico, as Area B's calendar shuts out diesels class by class over the years. A recent Euro 6 Jaguar keeps access longest, but check the City of Milan's current rules.

Do diesel Jaguars use AdBlue?

Yes, the Euro 6 Ingenium diesels in the XE, XF, E-Pace and F-Pace use an SCR system with AdBlue, which needs topping up between services. A warning left unresolved can stop the engine restarting.
