Question 1

Which automatic gearbox does the Kia Sportage have?

Accepted Answer

From 2016 the 1.6 T-GDi petrol and the 1.7 and 1.6 CRDi diesels pair with a seven-speed DCT, while the 2.0 CRDi has a torque-converter automatic, six-speed at first and eight-speed after the 2018 update. The 2010–2015 Sportage had a conventional six-speed automatic.

Question 2

What should I check on a used Kia Sportage with the DCT?

Accepted Answer

On a test drive the DCT should pull away smoothly and shift without jerks or judder at low speed, in traffic and on a hill start. Ask whether the gearbox has been serviced or updated by a Kia workshop.

Question 3

Yes, the full hybrid and the plug-in hybrid of the current generation come only with a six-speed torque-converter automatic, never a manual. So does the newer full hybrid that also runs on LPG.

Accepted Answer

The 136 hp mild-hybrid diesel, the 150 hp turbo petrol and the 143 hp LPG version come with the seven-speed DCT, and the 239 hp full hybrid on LPG with a six-speed automatic. The diesel DCT runs from Business to GT-Line Plus, the hybrid to the Black Edition.
