Question 1

Is the Kia 1.0 T-GDi engine reliable?

Accepted Answer

It is a turbocharged three-cylinder with a good reputation when serviced on time with the specified oil. Like every direct-injection engine, it suffers from late oil changes and a diet of very short trips.

Question 2

What is the difference between Kia MPi and T-GDi engines?

Accepted Answer

The MPi is naturally aspirated with port injection, less powerful but mechanically simple. The T-GDi is turbocharged with direct injection, stronger and thriftier on the open road, but more demanding to maintain.

Question 3

Is a GPL Kia worth buying in Italy?

Accepted Answer

A factory GPL Kia runs mostly on LPG, and most regions charge a dual-fuel car one flat bollo rate per kW. Some provinces also cut IPT for LPG cars, Bari to three quarters, so ask yours before buying.

Question 4

Which new Kias have a petrol engine?

Accepted Answer

The Picanto 1.0, the Stonic and XCeed with the 115 hp 1.0 T-GDi, and the XCeed, Seltos and Sportage with a 1.6 T-GDi of up to 180 hp, plus GPL versions of the Picanto, Stonic, XCeed and Sportage. Each can be compared at Kia's list price beside the used cars.
