Question 1

What should you check on a used Mercedes CLA?

Accepted Answer

Test the dual-clutch automatic, which should creep and pull away smoothly; jerks call for a check of its oil and control unit. The low roofline also makes the rear seats tight for tall passengers, worth trying if you carry adults.

Question 2

What is the difference between the first and second generation Mercedes CLA?

Accepted Answer

The second, from 2019, is longer and wider, with the MBUX infotainment and its voice control and more driver assistance. Its 2.0 diesel replaced the first generation's 2.1 in the CLA 200 d and 220 d.

Question 3

Do the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 and CLA 45 pay the superbollo?

Accepted Answer

Yes, both exceed 185 kW, so on top of the bollo they pay the state superbollo every year, €20 for each kW above 185. It falls to 60% after five years, 30% after ten and 15% after fifteen.

Question 4

Is the new Mercedes CLA still available with a diesel?

Accepted Answer

No, the new CLA, from 2025, comes only with hybrid petrol engines of 136 to 190 hp or as an electric with EQ technology, coupé or Shooting Brake, at Mercedes' list price beside the used cars. A diesel CLA is a used-car choice.
