Question 1

Which Mercedes CLA diesel is the best choice?

Accepted Answer

The second-generation CLA 200 d and 220 d, with the 2.0 diesel and the eight-speed 8G-DCT, are the smoothest and meet the newest emission rules. The first generation's 1.5 in the CLA 180 d, sourced from Renault, is frugal but less refined.

Question 2

What should you check on a used Mercedes CLA diesel?

Accepted Answer

On cars used mostly in town, the particulate filter and EGR valve can clog, so ask how the car was driven. On the second generation's 2.0, which uses AdBlue, make sure the system shows no warnings.

Question 3

Which diesel CLAs face the fewest city restrictions in Italy?

Accepted Answer

The Euro 6d cars of the second generation, from 2019. Milan's Area B and other cities' limited-traffic rules shut out older diesels in stages, going by the Euro class on the Documento Unico.

Question 4

Is there a diesel Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake?

Accepted Answer

Yes, both the first generation, from 2015, and the second offered the Shooting Brake with the same diesels as the coupé. It adds a longer roof and a more practical boot opening.
