Question 1

Which generation of Mercedes GLA should I buy used?

Accepted Answer

The second generation, from 2020, is taller, roomier in the back and has the MBUX infotainment system. The first, from 2014 and facelifted in 2017, costs less and drives much like a raised A-Class.

Question 2

Which engines does a used Mercedes GLA have?

Accepted Answer

Petrol from the GLA 180 to the 250, and diesel from the 180 d to the 220 d; the first-generation 180 d uses a 1.5 shared with Renault, the other diesels a Mercedes 2.1 or 2.0. The second generation adds the GLA 250 e plug-in hybrid.

Question 3

Is a Mercedes GLA with 4MATIC worth it?

Accepted Answer

4MATIC sends torque to the rear wheels when the front ones lose grip, which helps on snow and mountain roads. It adds weight and fuel use, so a front-drive GLA suits town and motorway driving.

Question 4

How much does a new Mercedes GLA cost?

Accepted Answer

The new GLA is electric: the GLA 200 with 224 hp and a 58 kWh battery, and the GLA 250+ with 272 hp and GLA 350 4MATIC with 354 hp, both with 85 kWh. Each is at Mercedes's list price beside the used cars.
