Question 1

Which Mercedes GLC diesel engine is best?

Accepted Answer

The 220 d is the most common and covers most needs at sensible running costs. The six-cylinder 350 d and 400 d are smoother and much quicker, but above 185 kW they pay the superbollo every year.

Question 2

What problems does the Mercedes GLC 220 d have?

Accepted Answer

On cars used mainly in town the particulate filter and EGR system tend to clog. Facelifted and second-generation diesels also use AdBlue, so ask whether the SCR system's sensors, pump or tank heater have been replaced.
