Question 1

Which Mercedes GLE engine is best to buy used?

Accepted Answer

The six-cylinder diesels, the 350 d of both generations and the second generation's 400 d, are the most sought after for their pulling power on long trips. The four-cylinder 250 d and 300 d cost less to run and, below 185 kW, pay no superbollo.

Question 2

What problems does a used Mercedes GLE have?

Accepted Answer

On cars with Airmatic air suspension, check that the car still sits level after standing and that the compressor does not run constantly. Diesels used mostly in town tend to clog their particulate filter and EGR system.

Question 3

What is the difference between the Mercedes GLE and the ML?

Accepted Answer

The first GLE, of 2015, is the facelifted third-generation ML with a new name and updated engines. The GLE that followed in 2019 is a new car, longer inside and offered with seven seats.

Question 4

How much does a new Mercedes GLE cost?

Accepted Answer

The new GLE is sold as an SUV or Coupé with 4MATIC and an automatic, as a 350 d or 450 d diesel, a 450 or V8 580 petrol, a 450 e plug-in hybrid and the AMG GLE 53 and 63, each at Mercedes' list price beside the used cars.
