Question 1

Which used Mini Cooper engine is the most reliable?

Accepted Answer

The BMW 1.5 three-cylinder in Coopers from 2014 is the most trouble-free. The 1.6 of 2006 to 2013, developed with PSA, needs its timing chain checked, especially if it rattles on a cold start.

Question 2

Is a used electric Mini Cooper SE worth it?

Accepted Answer

The Cooper SE of 2020 to 2024 is a three-door with a small battery, best suited to town driving and short commutes. Check the battery's state of health and that the charging port and cable work.

Question 3

Does a Mini Cooper D make sense in Italy?

Accepted Answer

The Cooper D suits drivers who cover long distances, but on short city trips its particulate filter clogs. Older Euro classes are also shut out of zones such as Milan's Area B, so check the class on the Documento Unico.

Question 4

How much does a new Mini Cooper cost?

Accepted Answer

The new Cooper is sold as the petrol One, C and John Cooper Works, all automatic, and as the electric E, SE and John Cooper Works E, each at Mini's list price beside the used cars.
