Question 1

Which versions does the new BMW 2 Series come in?

Accepted Answer

Three bodies: the Active Tourer, a compact MPV with petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid engines; the Coupé, petrol or diesel up to the M240i xDrive; and the Gran Coupé, a four-door up to the M235 xDrive.

Question 2

Is there a plug-in hybrid BMW 2 Series?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Active Tourer 225e xDrive and 230e xDrive, both four-wheel drive with a 14 kWh battery for about 85 km on electricity. The Coupé and Gran Coupé have no plug-in version.

Question 3

Does the BMW M240i pay the superbollo?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the M240i xDrive has more than 185 kW, so it pays €20 for each kW above that threshold every year on top of the bollo. The Gran Coupé M235 xDrive is over the threshold too.

Question 4

Should I buy a new or a used BMW 2 Series?

Accepted Answer

A new one has the manufacturer's warranty and the latest generation of each body. A used one costs less, but check which car it is: older Active Tourers, the seven-seat Gran Tourer and the first Coupé are earlier generations.
