Question 1

Which versions does the new BMW 3 Series come in?

Accepted Answer

The saloon is offered with petrol engines from the 318 to the M350 xDrive. The Touring adds diesels from the 318d to the M340d xDrive, petrol versions up to the M340i xDrive and the 330e plug-in hybrid.

Question 2

How far does the BMW 330e go on electricity?

Accepted Answer

The 330e Touring carries a 20 kWh battery, good for around 90 km of electric range, with rear-wheel drive or xDrive. It suits drivers who can charge at home or at work.

Question 3

Do the BMW M340i and M340d pay the superbollo?

Accepted Answer

Yes: both have more than 185 kW, as do the 330d xDrive and the M350 xDrive, so they pay €20 for each kW above that threshold every year on top of the bollo. The surcharge falls as the car ages.

Question 4

Is it better to buy a new or a used BMW 3 Series?

Accepted Answer

A new 3 Series has the manufacturer's warranty and the latest equipment, but loses value fastest in its first years. A used one two or three years old costs much less and often keeps part of its factory warranty.
