Question 1

Which electric cars does BMW sell in Italy?

Accepted Answer

The i4 Gran Coupé, the i5 saloon and Touring, the i7, and the iX1, iX2, iX3 and iX SUVs. Most come as single-motor eDrive or twin-motor xDrive versions.

Question 2

Do new electric BMWs pay the bollo?

Accepted Answer

Not at first: national law exempts an electric car for five years from first registration, then charges a quarter of the rate, and Lombardy and Piedmont exempt it for good. While the bollo is waived, no superbollo is due either, even above 185 kW.

Question 3

Is IPT lower on an electric BMW?

Accepted Answer

In some provinces: Cremona and Pavia halve it for electric cars, and Naples drops its surcharge. Elsewhere IPT is charged on kW like any car, so a powerful electric BMW is not cheap to register.

Question 4

Should I buy a new or a used electric BMW?

Accepted Answer

Electric cars lose value quickly in their first years, so a recent used one can cost much less; ask for a battery health report. A new one has the full factory warranty and the latest software and charging hardware.
