Question 1

What is the Kia Picanto AMT gearbox?

Accepted Answer

It is an automated manual: a conventional gearbox whose clutch and shifts are worked by actuators, so there is no clutch pedal. It is simpler than a dual clutch but shifts more slowly, so try it in traffic first.

Question 2

Which new Kia petrol cars come with GPL?

Accepted Answer

The Picanto, Stonic, XCeed and Sportage. A GPL car runs on LPG with petrol as a reserve, and in most regions a dual-fuel car pays the bollo at one flat rate per kW.

Question 3

Are new Kia petrol engines mild hybrids?

Accepted Answer

Some are: the Stonic's 115 hp 1.0 T-GDi carries 48-volt mild-hybrid help with both gearboxes, and so does the XCeed's with the dual clutch. The 1.6 T-GDi in the Seltos and Sportage is a plain turbo petrol.

Question 4

Does a new Kia petrol car pay the superbollo?

Accepted Answer

No: the strongest, the 180 hp Seltos 1.6 T-GDi, has about 132 kW, below the 185 kW threshold. It and the 150 hp versions are over 100 kW, so their kW above 100 pay the bollo's higher rate.
