Question 1

Which engines does the new Mercedes A-Class have?

Accepted Answer

Petrol A 180 with 136 hp, A 200 with 163 hp and A 250 4MATIC with 224 hp; diesel A 180 d, A 200 d and A 220 d from 116 to 190 hp; and the A 250 e plug-in hybrid with 218 hp. Above them sit the Mercedes-AMG A 35 with 306 hp and A 45 S with 421 hp.

Question 2

Does a new Mercedes-AMG A 35 or A 45 S pay the superbollo?

Accepted Answer

Yes, both exceed 185 kW: the A 35 has about 225 kW and the A 45 S about 310 kW, so each pays €20 a year for every kW above 185 on top of the bollo. It is due in full from first registration and falls only after five years.

Question 3

Is a new Mercedes A-Class better than a used one?

Accepted Answer

A new A-Class has the manufacturer's warranty and the 2023 update's cabin and equipment, but loses value fastest in its first years. A used one from 2018 on is the same generation and costs less.

Question 4

Does the Mercedes A 250 e plug-in hybrid pay less bollo?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the owner's region: Lombardy, for instance, charges hybrids a flat €2.58 per kW, while other regions apply the normal rate or a time-limited exemption. The bollo follows the region where the owner lives.
