Question 1

Which versions does the new Mercedes CLA come in?

Accepted Answer

Hybrid petrol versions with 136, 163 and 190 hp, the latter two also with 4MATIC, and electric versions with 224, 272 and 354 hp, plus the 680 hp AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+. Each comes as a coupé or a Shooting Brake.

Question 2

How far does the electric Mercedes CLA go on a charge?

Accepted Answer

The CLA 250+ coupé, with an 85 kWh battery, is rated at up to 791 km, and the CLA 200 with a 58 kWh battery at 541 km. The Shooting Brake versions go slightly less.

Question 3

Does a new electric Mercedes CLA pay the bollo in Italy?

Accepted Answer

By national law an electric car is exempt for five years from first registration, then pays a quarter of the rate, and some regions, such as Lombardy and Piedmont, exempt it for good. The superbollo the AMG would owe is not due while the car is exempt.

Question 4

Is it better to buy a new or a used Mercedes CLA?

Accepted Answer

A new CLA is hybrid or electric only and carries the factory warranty. A used one from the earlier generations, built until 2025, also offers diesels and the AMG CLA 35 and CLA 45 petrols, and costs less once its first years' depreciation is behind it.
