Question 1

What does 4MATIC mean on a new Mercedes?

Accepted Answer

It is Mercedes' all-wheel drive, offered on most models from the A-Class up. The AMG versions marked 4MATIC+ use a fully variable system that can send most of the power to the rear wheels.

Question 2

Which new Mercedes pay the superbollo?

Accepted Answer

Every version over 185 kW, about 252 hp, from the C 300 up to the AMG and Maybach models, pays €20 a year for each kW above that, in full for the first five years. Versions such as the A 200 or C 200 d pay only the regional bollo.

Question 3

What do the Mercedes body names mean?

Accepted Answer

Station Wagon is the estate, All-Terrain a raised E-Class estate with 4MATIC, Shooting Brake the CLA estate and Passo Lungo the long-wheelbase S-Class. Coupé and Cabrio name the two-door versions, such as the CLE.

Question 4

Is it better to buy a new or a used Mercedes in Italy?

Accepted Answer

A new one has the factory warranty and the exact specification you choose, but a large car loses much of its value in its first years. A recent used Mercedes costs less, and after five years its superbollo drops to 60%.
