Question 1

Which versions does the new Opel Astra come in?

Accepted Answer

Four powertrains: a 130 hp diesel, a 145 hp hybrid, a 195 hp plug-in hybrid and a 156 hp electric, all with an automatic gearbox. Trims step up from Start through Edition and GS to Ultimate, though not every powertrain has all four.

Question 2

Opel Astra hatchback or Sports Tourer: which should I choose?

Accepted Answer

The Sports Tourer is the estate, longer and with a bigger boot, and it is sold with the same four powertrains. The hatchback is shorter and easier to park in town.

Question 3

Does a new electric Opel Astra pay the bollo?

Accepted Answer

By law an electric car is exempt from the bollo for five years from first registration, then pays a quarter of the rate in most regions. Lombardy and Piedmont exempt it for good.

Question 4

Is a new Opel Astra better than a used one?

Accepted Answer

A new Astra has Opel's warranty and the hybrid and electric powertrains. A used Astra K, built from 2015 to 2021, costs less and comes with petrol and diesel engines, often with a manual gearbox.
