Question 1

Which new Opels have a petrol engine?

Accepted Answer

The Corsa, Astra, Frontera, Mokka, Grandland and Combo, all with the 1.2 three-cylinder turbo. On the Astra and Grandland it comes only as a Hybrid with an automatic gearbox.

Question 2

What is the difference between the Opel 1.2 Turbo and the Hybrid?

Accepted Answer

The plain 1.2 turbo has a manual gearbox, with 100 hp on the Corsa and Frontera, 110 hp on the Combo and 136 hp on the Mokka. The Hybrid adds a 48-volt electric motor inside a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox and uses less fuel in town.

Question 3

Does a new Opel Hybrid pay less bollo in Italy?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the region. Many charge hybrids one flat rate per kW whatever their Euro class, and a few grant new ones a temporary exemption, while others charge them like any petrol car.

Question 4

Is a new petrol Opel better than a used one?

Accepted Answer

The new car has the factory warranty and the latest version of the 1.2 engine. A used petrol Opel a few years old costs less, but ask for the service record of its engine.
