Question 1

Which versions does the new Renault Austral come in?

Accepted Answer

The new Austral is sold as the E-Tech full hybrid with 200 cv and an automatic gearbox. It comes in Evolution, Techno and Esprit Alpine trim, each adding equipment and, on the Esprit Alpine, a sportier look.

Question 2

Does a new Renault Austral pay the superbollo?

Accepted Answer

No. The E-Tech full hybrid's 200 cv are about 147 kW, well below the 185 kW threshold. The bollo goes to the owner's region, and most regions charge a hybrid one flat rate per kW.

Question 3

How is IPT worked out on a new Renault Austral?

Accepted Answer

IPT is charged on the car's kW and the buyer's province: above 53 kW it is a rate per kW, which most provinces raise by up to 30%. A few provinces, such as Naples, cut it for electric hybrids.

Question 4

Is it better to buy a new or a used Renault Austral?

Accepted Answer

A new Austral comes with the manufacturer's warranty and the current full-hybrid range. A used one has already taken the first years' depreciation and may be one of the earlier mild-hybrid petrol versions.
