Question 1

Which engines does the new Skoda Octavia have?

Accepted Answer

The 1.5 TSI petrol with 116 or 150 cv and a manual gearbox, the same engine as a mild hybrid with DSG, the 2.0 TDI EVO diesel with 116 or 150 cv, the 204 cv 2.0 TSI with 4x4 and the 265 cv RS.

Question 2

Does the Skoda Octavia RS pay the superbollo?

Accepted Answer

Yes: at 265 cv the RS has about 195 kW, so it pays the superbollo on the kW above 185 every year, a charge that falls as the car ages. The 204 cv 2.0 TSI, at 150 kW, does not.

Question 3

Skoda Octavia hatchback or Wagon?

Accepted Answer

The hatchback already has a wide tailgate and a large boot; the Wagon adds a longer, squarer load area for families and luggage. Both are offered with much the same engines and trims.

Question 4

Should I buy a new or used Skoda Octavia?

Accepted Answer

A new Octavia brings the 2024 update and the manufacturer's warranty. A used fourth-generation car costs less and, before the update, could also be the plug-in hybrid iV, which the new range no longer has.
