Question 1

Which engines does the new Toyota RAV4 have?

Accepted Answer

Every version is a 2.5 petrol hybrid with an automatic transmission. The full hybrid has 185 hp with front-wheel drive or 194 hp with AWD-i four-wheel drive, and the plug-in hybrid has 309 hp and four-wheel drive.

Question 2

Should I choose the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid or the Plug-in Hybrid?

Accepted Answer

The plug-in hybrid suits a driver who can charge at home or at work, since it covers short daily trips on electricity. Without regular charging, the full hybrid makes more sense and costs less to buy.

Question 3

Is the Toyota RAV4 AWD-i a real four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

AWD-i drives the rear wheels with an electric motor, with no propshaft, and helps on wet roads, snow and gravel. It has no low-range gearbox, so it is not meant for serious off-roading.

Question 4

How much bollo does a hybrid Toyota RAV4 pay?

Accepted Answer

The bollo is charged on the kW shown on the Documento Unico, and in most regions a hybrid pays one flat rate per kW whatever its Euro class. Some regions, such as Veneto, Puglia and Basilicata, exempt hybrids for their first years.
