Question 1

Which versions does the new Volkswagen Passat come in?

Accepted Answer

Trims step up from Trend to Business, R-Line and R-Line Plus. The 122 hp TDI and the 204 hp eHybrid open the range, the 193 hp TDI adds 4Motion all-wheel drive, and the 272 hp eHybrid comes in the R-Line trims.

Question 2

How far does the new Volkswagen Passat eHybrid go on electricity?

Accepted Answer

Its battery of about 20 kWh gives an official electric range of roughly 125 to 135 km, depending on power and trim. That covers most daily commutes without starting the petrol engine.

Question 3

Is there still a Volkswagen Passat saloon?

Accepted Answer

No. The ninth generation is an estate only, so a Passat saloon now means a used car from the eighth generation or earlier.

Question 4

Should I buy a new or a used Volkswagen Passat?

Accepted Answer

A new Passat carries the factory warranty and an eHybrid with a far longer electric range than the old GTE. A used eighth-generation Passat costs much less, since large estates lose a good share of their value in the first years.
