Do new Volkswagen TDI diesels need AdBlue?

Yes, every new TDI cleans its exhaust with an SCR system that uses AdBlue from a separate tank. The dashboard warns well before it runs out, and the engine will not restart once the tank is empty.

Is a new diesel Volkswagen still worth it in Italy?

For high mileage, motorway driving or towing, yes: a TDI uses less fuel than a petrol engine of the same size. Low-emission zones such as Milan's Area B restrict diesels by Euro class on a calendar that tightens over time, so check the local rules.

How much bollo does a new Volkswagen TDI pay?

The bollo is charged on kW and Euro class, not on fuel, so a Euro 6 TDI pays the same as a petrol car of equal power. The rate is set by the owner's region.
