Question 1

What problems does the Opel Grandland X have?

Accepted Answer

On the 1.2 PureTech petrol the timing belt runs in oil and can wear early, so ask about its condition and replacement. The 1.5 diesel needs regular longer runs to keep its particulate filter healthy, and its AdBlue system is worth checking.

Question 2

Does the Opel Grandland X Hybrid4 have four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the 300 hp Hybrid4 adds an electric motor on the rear axle for four-wheel drive. The 225 hp Hybrid drives the front wheels only. Both are plug-in hybrids with an eight-speed automatic.

Question 3

Opel Grandland X diesel or petrol: which to buy used?

Accepted Answer

The 1.5 diesel suits long motorway runs and uses little fuel, while the 1.2 petrol is simpler for short trips. Check the Euro class against the low-emission rules where you live, such as Milan's Area B.

Question 4

Does a used Opel Grandland X plug-in hybrid pay less bollo?

Accepted Answer

That depends on the owner's region, which sets its own rates for hybrids. In most regions a hybrid pays one flat rate per kW whatever its Euro class; check the regional rules before buying.

Question 5

How much does a new Opel Grandland cost?

Accepted Answer

The new Grandland comes as a 145 hp Hybrid, a 225 hp Plug-in Hybrid, or an Electric of 213, 231 or 325 hp with 73 or 97 kWh, all automatic, in Edition, GS and Ultimate trims, each at Opel's list price.
