Question 1

Which diesel engine is best on a used Opel Mokka?

Accepted Answer

The 1.6 CDTI, which replaced the 1.7 in 2015, is quieter and more economical. The second generation's 1.5 diesel is newer still and meets Euro 6d, which helps in cities that limit older diesels.

Question 2

What should I check on a used diesel Opel Mokka?

Accepted Answer

A diesel used only in town can clog its particulate filter, so ask whether the car has done regular longer runs. The second-generation 1.5 also needs AdBlue, and a fault in its system brings a warning on the dashboard.

Question 3

Was the Opel Mokka diesel available with four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on the first generation and the Mokka X some CDTI versions had four-wheel drive, useful in the mountains. The second-generation diesel is front-wheel drive only.

Question 4

Is a used diesel Opel Mokka worth buying?

Accepted Answer

It pays off for drivers covering many kilometres a year, on the motorway above all. For short town trips a petrol or LPG Mokka is simpler, and older diesels face tightening limits in city low-emission zones.
