Question 1

Which Opel Mokka engines come with a manual gearbox?

Accepted Answer

On the first generation and the Mokka X, every engine was offered with a manual, including the 1.4 Turbo with factory LPG and the CDTI diesels. On the second, from 2021, the manual goes with the 1.2 turbo petrol and the 1.5 diesel.

Question 2

Is a manual Opel Mokka better than an automatic?

Accepted Answer

A manual Mokka is simpler and cheaper to repair, and it is the gearbox most used Mokkas have. An automatic pays off in heavy town traffic; on the second generation it is an eight-speed fitted to the stronger engines.

Question 3

What should I check on a used manual Opel Mokka?

Accepted Answer

Feel for clutch slip and listen to the gearbox in the lower gears, especially on a car used mostly in town. On a second-generation 1.2 turbo, also ask whether the timing belt, which runs in oil, has been checked.

Question 4

Is the new Opel Mokka still sold with a manual gearbox?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the new Mokka keeps a manual with its 136 hp 1.2 turbo petrol, in Edition, GS and Ultimate trims. The Hybrid and the electric versions are automatic only.
