Question 1

Which petrol engine is best on a used Opel Mokka?

Accepted Answer

On the first generation, the 1.4 Turbo is the livelier choice and the 1.6 the simplest. On the second, the 1.2 turbo of 100 or 130 hp suits most buyers, provided its timing belt has been looked after.

Question 2

What is the timing belt problem on the Opel Mokka 1.2 turbo?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 three-cylinder in the second-generation Mokka has a timing belt that runs in oil and can wear early. Ask for proof that it has been checked or replaced and that the specified oil was used.

Question 3

Is a used Opel Mokka with factory LPG worth buying?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for drivers who cover many kilometres, since LPG costs less than petrol. The first-generation 1.4 Turbo was offered with LPG fitted at the factory; check the tank's date, as in Italy it must be replaced ten years after it was made.

Question 4

Is the new Opel Mokka sold with a petrol engine?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as the 136 hp 1.2 turbo with a manual gearbox and as the 145 hp Hybrid with an automatic, both in Edition, GS and Ultimate trims. The Hybrid's 48-volt system helps mostly in town and cannot be plugged in.
