Question 1

Is the Peugeot 208 PureTech petrol engine reliable?

Accepted Answer

The non-turbo PureTech of 68, 75 or 82 hp is simple and generally sound. The turbo 100, 110 and 130 have a timing belt that runs in oil and can wear early, so look for proof it has been checked or replaced and that the specified oil was used.

Question 2

Should I choose a turbo or non-turbo petrol Peugeot 208?

Accepted Answer

A non-turbo PureTech suits town driving, and its lower kW keeps the bollo and IPT down. A turbo copes far better with motorways and hills, and on the second generation it is the only petrol offered with an automatic gearbox.

Question 3

What is the Peugeot 208 GTi?

Accepted Answer

The first-generation GTi, sold from 2013 to 2018 as a three-door only, has a turbo 1.6 THP petrol of 200 or 208 hp and a six-speed manual. Check for track use and clutch wear, and note that its kW raise the IPT on transfer.

Question 4

How much does a new petrol Peugeot 208 cost?

Accepted Answer

The new petrol 208 comes as the 100 hp Turbo with a manual gearbox or as the Hybrid of 110 or 145 hp with the e-DCS6 dual-clutch automatic. Trims run from Style through Allure, Edition and Lumiere to GT and GT Exclusive, each at Peugeot's official list price.
