Question 1

What automatic gearbox does a used Peugeot 3008 have?

Accepted Answer

A second-generation 3008 has either the six-speed EAT6 or, from 2017, the eight-speed EAT8, both torque-converter automatics. First-generation cars had a conventional six-speed automatic on some engines and a robotised single-clutch EGC on others.

Question 2

Should I avoid the robotised gearbox on the first Peugeot 3008?

Accepted Answer

The robotised EGC, fitted to the 1.6 e-HDi and the HYbrid4, is frugal but slow and jerky when pulling away. If you want a smooth automatic, look for a torque-converter EAT6 or EAT8 instead.

Question 3

Is the plug-in hybrid Peugeot 3008 automatic?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the second generation's Hybrid 225 and Hybrid4 300 use the e-EAT8 automatic, and the third generation's Plug-in Hybrid the e-DCS6 dual-clutch. Check that the charging cable comes with the car and ask how often it was charged.

Question 4

Is the new Peugeot 3008 only sold as an automatic?

Accepted Answer

Yes, every new 3008 is automatic: the 145 hp Hybrid and the 225 hp Plug-in Hybrid with the e-DCS6 dual-clutch, and the electric E-3008 of 230 hp or 325 hp Dual Motor with a single-speed drive. Trims run from Allure to GT Exclusive at Peugeot's list price.
