Question 1

Which diesel engine is best on a used Peugeot 3008?

Accepted Answer

The 1.5 BlueHDi 130 is the most economical and suits most drivers, with a manual or the EAT8 automatic. The 2.0 BlueHDi 180 is stronger for towing and full loads, but costs more in IPT and bollo, which are charged on kW.

Question 2

What are the common faults of the Peugeot 3008 BlueHDi?

Accepted Answer

The AdBlue system is the best-known weak point: a failing tank or pump brings up an emissions warning and a countdown after which the engine will not restart. The particulate filter also needs regular longer drives to regenerate.

Question 3

What was the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4?

Accepted Answer

Sold from 2012 to 2016, the HYbrid4 paired a 2.0 HDi diesel driving the front wheels with an electric motor on the rear axle, giving all-wheel drive. It has a robotised gearbox and a small battery, so have the hybrid system checked by a specialist.

Question 4

Are diesel Peugeot 3008s affected by Italian traffic bans?

Accepted Answer

Yes, cities such as Milan restrict diesels by Euro class, and in winter the Po Valley regions add temporary bans on older diesels. A 3008 BlueHDi is Euro 6, but a first-generation HDi may be Euro 4 or 5, so check field V.9 of the Documento Unico.
