Question 1

Does a petrol Porsche Macan pay the superbollo?

Accepted Answer

Every V6 Macan does, as the S, GTS and Turbo all exceed 185 kW; the surcharge is €20 for each kW above that and shrinks as the car ages. The 252 hp 2.0 has 185 kW and pays none, while the later 265 hp 2.0, at 195 kW, pays a little.

Question 2

Should I buy a Porsche Macan 2.0 or a Macan S?

Accepted Answer

The 2.0 costs less to buy, insure and tax, and is quick enough for most drivers. The S's V6 is smoother and much faster, but adds the superbollo and a higher IPT on transfer, since IPT is charged on kW.

Question 3

What changed in the Porsche Macan facelifts?

Accepted Answer

The 2019 update brought new rear lights, a larger touchscreen and new V6 engines. The 2021 update raised power across the range and replaced the centre console's buttons with touch panels.

Question 4

Is the Porsche Macan's PDK gearbox reliable?

Accepted Answer

The seven-speed PDK dual-clutch is robust, and every petrol Macan has it. Ask whether its oil was changed when Porsche schedules it, and check that it pulls away smoothly at low speed.
