Question 1

Which used Porsches pay no superbollo in Italy?

Accepted Answer

Cars of up to 185 kW, such as the four-cylinder 2.0 Macan and the early base Boxsters, pay none. An electric Taycan or Macan pays none while it is exempt from the bollo, and for every other Porsche the surcharge falls with age and ends twenty years after construction.

Question 2

What is the IMS bearing problem on a used Porsche?

Accepted Answer

The intermediate shaft bearing of the M96 and M97 flat-sixes, fitted to the 996 and early 997 911 and to Boxsters and Caymans up to 2008, can fail and wreck the engine. Ask whether it has been replaced with an upgraded part.

Question 3

Did Porsche make diesel cars?

Accepted Answer

Yes: the Cayenne, Macan and Panamera were sold with V6 or V8 diesels until 2018, when Porsche dropped diesel. A used Porsche diesel suits long motorway runs, but check its Euro class against city limits such as Milan's Area B.

Question 4

How much does a new Porsche cost in Italy?

Accepted Answer

New Porsches cover the 911, the Panamera, the Cayenne and Cayenne Coupé, the Macan, now sold new only as an electric car, and the electric Taycan, with petrol, plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains. Each version sits at Porsche's official list price beside the used cars.
