Question 1

Which used petrol Porsches have the IMS bearing problem?

Accepted Answer

The M96 and M97 flat-sixes in the 996 and early 997 911 and in Boxsters and Caymans up to 2008. The direct-injection engines that followed have no intermediate shaft bearing, and the 911 Turbo and GT3 of those years used a different engine.

Question 2

Is a turbocharged or naturally aspirated used Porsche 911 better?

Accepted Answer

From the 991.2 of 2015 every Carrera is turbocharged, with more torque and lower consumption. Earlier Carreras and the GT3 keep naturally aspirated engines, prized for their response and sound, so the choice is about character.

Question 3

How much superbollo does a used petrol Porsche pay?

Accepted Answer

€20 a year for each kW above 185, at the full rate for five years from construction, then 60%, 30% after ten years and 15% after fifteen, with nothing after twenty. A 2.0 Macan at 185 kW pays none.

Question 4

Which new petrol Porsches are on sale in Italy?

Accepted Answer

The 911 in every body, from the Carrera to the Turbo S and GT3, the Cayenne and Cayenne Coupé with V6 or V8 engines and the Panamera. Each version sits at Porsche's official list price beside the used cars.
